Limerick produced perhaps the display of the night with a 4-0 trouncing of fellow play-off hopefuls Shelbourne at Tolka Park.
Shane Tracy put Pat Scully's side in front on the hour mark after John Tierney was taken down inside the area.
Stephen O'Flynn stunned Shels to add a second goal three minutes later.
Tierney then headed home from a Tracy cross on 75 minutes to seal the points with Shane Clarke adding the fourth five minutes from time.
