| Mervue United 0-1 Shelbourne |
| Saturday, 24 July 2010 20:03 |
|
Marc Hughes scored a late winner as Shelbourne finished with ten men at Terryland Park.
Shels bossed the game for long periods with Colin O’Brien, Philly Gorman and David Cassidy coming close to breaking the deadlock before the goal arrived on 76 minutes.
Cassidy whipped over a free-kick and Hughes headed.
The game ended in some confusion, though, as Shels’ defender Ian Ryan was sent off on 85 minutes by referee John Grimes in an apparent case of mistaken identity.
