Derry City beat Wexford Youths 3-1 at the Brandywell as Monaghan’s 2-1 win at Waterford meant the Candystripes opened up a ten point lead at the top of the table.
Danny Furlong actually put Youths in front, but defender Mark McChrystal levelled for Derry on 18 minutes before Thomas McBride put Stephen Kenny’s side in front five minutes before the break.
Paddy McEleney sealed the win with a third goal on 58 minutes.
