ark Farren scored twice as Derry re-opened their seven-point lead at the top of the First Division.
Striker Farren put the Candystripes ahead on 21 minutes when latching onto David McDaid's pass to dink the ball over Ger Hanley.
Eddie McCallion's long through ball then put Farren in for his second on 81 minutes.
Mervue's consolation goal came on 90 minutes when David Goldbey headed home Rory Gaffney's cross.
