Year founded: 1922 Year of entry to the League of Ireland: 1985 Home ground: St. Colman’s Park | General Information | Cobh Ramblers were one of six clubs elected to the League of Ireland in 1985 to take part in the new First Division. They have since spent three seasons in the Premier Division of the league, although they have been rather unfortunate to have narrowly missed out on promotion on a further six occasions.
The Co. Cork club is a big operation, running teams all the way from Under-7s through to Over-35s, and also field a Ladies side. Stephen Ireland, the Manchester City midfielder who scored Ireland’s first ever goal in Croke Park, is a product of the Cobh Ramblers schoolboy side. However, the most famous ex-Rambler is Roy Keane, who played in the League of Ireland for the club before being snapped-up by Nottingham Forest.
Cobh Ramblers won their first ever eircom League of Ireland silverware in November 2007 when they secured the First Division title. | Playing Kit | 1st choice: Jersey: Claret and blue Shorts: Blue Socks: Claret
