Athlone were held to a third scoreless draw in a row as Finn Harps failed to build on last week’s win over Wexford Youths in a dour battle at Ballybofey.

Tommy Bonner, Kevin McHugh, Johnny Lafferty and Stephen McLaughlin had chances for Harps in a one-sided first half.

But it was Athlone who produced the game’s most clear-cut opening on 71 minutes when Austin Skelly got free to tee-up Noel McGee who brought the save of the match from Liam Mailey.
