Vinny Sullivan struck his fourth goal of the season as Waterford made it five wins on the spin to stay four points clear at the top of the First Division table after this cracker at Terryland Park.

Blues punished sloppy defending to take a 10th minutes lead. Timmy Purcell pounced to dispossess Damien O’Rourke to run through and shoot past Ger Hanley.

But O’Rourke made amends when he flicked on a long throw from Rory Gaffney for Nicky Curran to head Mervue level on 23 minutes.
Sullivan restored Blues' lead on 62 minutes with a back post finish from Purcell's cross.

Gareth Cambridge centred for Willie John Kiely to make it 3-1 seven minutes later.

Mervue made a fight of it with Evan Connolly getting their second goal within a further three minutes, but Blues held out for victory.
