Promotion-hopefuls Shelbourne’s stuttering start to the season continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Ferrycarrig Park.

David Cassidy put Shels in front on 35 minutes when punishing a defensive mistake to run on and shoot past Packie Holden.

Youths hit back 12 minutes into the second half when Gary Sheahan was fouled by Gareth Whelan and Shane Dempsey scored from the resultant free-kick.

Shels' keeper Dean Delaney thought he'd saved it when scooping the ball away, but it was deemed to have already crossed the line.
