Goals early in each half from Vinny Sullivan and Willie John Kiely sent Waterford to the top of the table as they cruised to victory in the southeast derby at the RSC.

A strengthened Blues are fancied for promotion and they were out of the blocks early with Sullivan firing home the lead goal on seven minutes from Timmy Purcell’s pass.

Youths had Warren Broaders shown a straight red card for a lunge at Kevin Murray on 21 minutes.

Kiely added to their troubles when adding Blues'  second goal on 55 minutes when shooting past Packie Holden after Paul McCarthy played him in on goal.

Alan Carey got the third from a 73rd minute penalty.
