Thomas McGauley got Athlone back to winning ways as Longfrod slumped to a third defeat on the spin.

Defender McGauley was left unmarked to head past Town player/manager Alan Gough from Brian Cleary’s corner on 15 minutes for the only goal of the game at Flancare Park.
Town did have claims for a penalty waved away ten minutes later when a Jason McCartney shot appeared to be handled inside the area.
