Willie John Kiely was Waterford's goal hero again to move Blues back up to fourth place in the table. Having scored twice as Stephen Henderson's side came from behind to win in Athlone last week, Kiely struck for the only goal of the game on 16 minutes when connecting with Alan Carey’s cross to shoot left-footed past town player-boss Alan Gough for his fourth goal of the season. Kiely had three further chances to increase Blues’ winning margin in the second half while winger Kevin Waters shot wide of an open goal on 70 minutes. Longford almost snatched a late equaliser but for a terrific save by Mick Devine from Adrian Murphy. |
