Willy John Kiely scored twice as Waterford came from behind to end Athlone’s unbeaten start to the season. Noel McGee stabbed Town in front on 68 minutes when he pounced on Kevin Dunne’s flick from a Kevin Williamson corner. But Blues levelled six minutes later when Kiely got his first of the game to touch home Graham Cummins’ flick from a Gary Dunphy cross. Town had McGee sent off on 81 minutes for a second booking following a foul on Dunphy. Kiely then won it for Blues two minutes from time with a close range volley after John Kearney’s shot rebounded off defender Dunne into his path. |
