Monaghan came from 3-0 down to win an unlikely point in a bizarre game at Flancare Park.

Longford went goal crazy, scoring three times inside as many minutes, to give new boss Alan Gough what appeared the perfect debut.

Colin Jinks opened the scoring on 11 minutes minutes when lobbing Monaghan keeper Brendan Kennedy from all of 30 yards.

A minute later Carmine Russo and Liam Lynch combined down the right and the low cross was shot home by Jason McCartney.

Within a further minute Derek Glynn latched onto a ball over the top to lob the advancing Kennedy form the edge of the area.

Monaghan hit back on 23 minutes when Karl Bermingham was played clean through to shoot past Brendan Murphy.

The revival continued seven minutes before the break when Sean Brennan’s free-kick took a deflection off the Town wall to end up in the net.

Six minutes into the second half Monaghan got their equaliser when Barry Clancy’s left wing cross deceived Murphy to end up in the net to complete a remarkable turnaround.

Longford finished the match with ten men after defender Brian McCarthy was sent off on 87 minutes for a foul on Bermingham.
