Eamon Zayed scored early and late to keep Sporting Fingal’s promotion push on the boil as they made it ten goals against Longford this season in a one-sided clash at Flancare Park. Zayed put Sporting in front on four minutes when shooting home John Frost’s cross. Town wasted a chance to level on the half hour when Darren McKenna’s feeble penalty was easily saved by Chris Konopka after Sporting skipper Stephen Paisley had upended McKenna in the box. Paisley then doubled Sporting’s lead on 59 minutes when his downward header from Alan Kirby’s cross was only helped into the net by Tom King. Gary O’Neill made it 3-0 20 minutes later with a clever chip over Aaron Shanahan before Zayed got his second a minute from time. The win moves Sporting to within a point of second-placed Shelbourne and five points behind leaders UCD with three games to play. |
