Midfielder David McAllister missed a second half penalty as Shelbourne blew a chance to go back top of the First Division table.

Shels remain a point behind leaders UCD, who play Mervue United on Saturday, as they failed to break down a Town side that had conceded nine goals in their previous two games.

Topscorer McAllister should have won it for dominant Shels on 66 minutes, though, after Robbie Hamm upended Robbie Hedderman inside the box. But McAllister put his spot kick over the bar.
