Stephen O’Flynn scored a hat-trick as Limerick trounced Athlone Town at Jackman Park to register their biggest win of the season.
Daryl Kavanagh intercepted a poor pass to shoot the opener past Alex O’Reilly on 18 minutes. Shane Tracey doubled the lead five minutes later from a free-kick. O’Flynn the got his first of the night on 33 minutes, heading home Kavanagh’s cross. Dave O’Connor pulled a goal back for Athlone two minutes into the second half. But any hopes of a recovery were dashed as Robbie Hamm gave away a penalty for a foul on John Tierney and was sent off. Tracey scored from the spot for his second goal of the night. O’Flynn then got his second on 75 minutes, flicking home John Boyle’s cross. The hat-trick arrived ten minutes from time when O’Flynn rifled home a free-kick from just outside the box. |
