Monaghan stretched their unbeaten run to six games as they inflicted the heaviest home defeat of the season on Longford.

 

After a scoreless first half, Barry Clancey shot home the opener from the edge of the area on the hour mark.

 

Clancy then provided the cross for Karl Bermingham to double Monahan's lead on 76 minutes.

 

Darragh Hanaphy headed a third goal four minutes later before Town got one back through Darren McKenna on 85 minutes.

 

But in-form Monaghan had the final say when Cathal O'Connor added their fourth goal two minutes later.
