Mervue came from behind to earn their first win in ten games to stun Athlone at Terryland Park.

 

Athlone took the lead on 15 minutes when Austin Skelly tapped home Robbie Benson's cross.

 

But Mervue were level with a quality goal on 23 minutes as Rory Gaffney surprised keeper John McGuinness with a clever lob from 35 yards.

 

Substitute Evan Connolly put Mervue in front with his first touch on 74 minutes when powerfully heading home Mark Ludden's cross.

 

Another super cross from Ludden brought the third goal for Mike Tierney who drilled home seven minutes from time.
