Mervue United stopped the rot of eight straight defeats with a battling scoreless draw at home to Wexford Youths, despite playing for over an hour with ten men.

 

The Galway side had Neil Keane sent off after just 24 minutes for a bad challenge on Anto Russell.

 

Minutes earlier David Goldbey might have put Mervue in front but shot into the arms of Youths' keeper Packie Holden.

 

Youths' Jimmy Keohane headed against a post midway through the second half from Conor Sinnott's cross.

 

But it was the ten men who might have snatched the three points late on when Mark Ludden was through one-on-one with Holden, but the keeper did well to force the ball out for a corner.
