David McAllister was Shelbourne’s goal hero with a brace at Flancare Park to keep Dermot Keely’s side two points clear at the top of the table.
Midfielder McAllister shot Shels in front on 55 minutes, latching onto new signing Tony Griffiths' pass to fire past new Town keeper Aaron Shanahan. Brian McCarthy came close to levelling for Town on 50 minutes when his header was cleared off the line by David Cassidy. But the defender then handled a goal bound shot from Anto Flood eight minutes later. McCarthy was duly sent off by Cork referee Graham Kelly and McAllister slotted home his second of the night from the penalty spot. |
