The division’s topscorer Graham Cummins hit his fourth goal in three games as Waterford maintained their promotion push at the RSC.

Limerick defender Brian O’Callaghan turned a Paul Walsh cross into his own net to gift Blues an 11th minute lead.

Blues doubled their lead on 62 minutes when Cummins scooped home the rebound after David Ryan had parried his penalty, awarded by linesman Ken Hennessy after Cummins had been impeded by Martin Deady, for his 12th goal of the season.

Limerick fought back and Shane Tracey rifled home an 85th minute penalty after Kevin Murray had fouled John Tierney, but Blues held out for a big three points.
