Republic of Ireland youth international goalkeeper Aaron McCarey made two brilliant saves on his league debut to deprive promotion-chasing Waterford a win as Monaghan held them scoreless at Kingspan Century Park. Waterford defender Alan Carey hit a post with a first half free-kick before 17-year-old McCarey, who's had trials at Manchester United, raced off his line to save at the feet of Kevin Waters three minutes into the second half. McCarey excelled again on 84 minutes to turn a shot from Dave Warren round a post. Monaghan then almost snatched all three points in stoppage time, but Kenny Browne cleared off the line from ex-Blues’ striker Karl Bermingham. Waterford remain fourth in the table, seven points off leaders Shelbourne.
