Midfielders David McGill and David McAllister scored a brace apiece as Shelbourne inflicted a second heavy defeat in succession on Mervue United to move four points clear at the top of the table, for 24 hours at least.

McGill set the ball rolling on 12 minutes and Dermot Keely’s side were 3-0 up at the interval with further strikes from Mark O’Brien on 27 minutes and McAllister's first six minutes before the break.

McAllister and McGill got their second goals within six minutes of the restart to end the game as a contest.

Defender Robbier Hedderman added a sixth on 66 minutes with winger Richie Baker getting his first goal of the season five minutes from time.
