| Fingal ready for Blues challenge |
|
Liam Buckley knows that his side were evenly matched with Waterford United last year, but the Sporting Fingal manager wants to record an early win over a side that are tipped to be amongst his closest title rivals. Fingal make the trip south to face Waterford on the opening weekend of the League of Ireland season and, having won two and lost two against the Blues in 2008, Buckley knows that it is an early chance to record an important victory. “We played Waterford United twice in the RSC last season and they beat us twice, whereas we beat them twice in Morton Stadium, so we were evenly matched," he said. "They have a new manager and there will be a bit of a bounce from that, and they have also brought in a few players from Cobh who have experienced winning promotion and have played in the Premier before.” |
