| Sporting Fingal 2-0 Athlone Town |
| Friday, 15 May 2009 09:50 |
|
Two goals in three minutes midway through the second half got Sporting back to winning ways at Morton stadium. Â Having drawn their previous two games, promotion favourites Sporting had to work hard for their win as they needed a Robbie Benson own goal to break the deadlock on 71 minutes when the Town midfielder deflected Alan Kirby's cross into his own net. Â Conan Byrne then hit his fifth goal of the season to seal the win two minutes later when rounding John McGuinness to slide the ball home. Â The win keep Sporting third in the table, but they've narrowed the gap on Waterford to just two points and are four behind leaders UCD. |
