Two goals in three minutes midway through the second half got Sporting back to winning ways at Morton stadium.

 

Having drawn their previous two games, promotion favourites Sporting had to work hard for their win as they needed a Robbie Benson own goal to break the deadlock on 71 minutes when the Town midfielder deflected Alan Kirby's cross into his own net.

 

Conan Byrne then hit his fifth goal of the season to seal the win two minutes later when rounding John McGuinness to slide the ball home.

 

The win keep Sporting third in the table, but they've narrowed the gap on Waterford to just two points and are four behind leaders UCD.
