Monaghan put the brakes on Wexford’s three-match winning run by holding Mick Wallace’s side scoreless at  Kingspan Century Park.

Youths adopted a defensive approach with Gavin Doyle their lone striker.

But it was Doyle who might have won the game from its best chance on 51 minutes.

Monaghan defender Alan Byrne slipped to let Doyle in on goal, but Brendan Kennedy was off his line smartly to make the stop of the match.
