Barry Clancy scored a late winner as Monaghan twice came from behind to make it two wins on the spin at Lissywoollen as both sides finish with ten men. Robbie Benson shot home Emeka Onwubiko’s cross to give Town the lead after just two minutes. But Monaghan hit back from a 38th minute penalty shot home by Sean Brennan after Thomas McGauley was sent off for handling Clancy’s shot on the line. Town went back in front in the final minute of the first half when Noel McGee worked a one-two with Benson to shoot home. Monaghan were level again on 56 minutes when defender Robbie Hamm headed into his own net from Brennan’s cross. Monaghan had substitute striker David Freeman sent off for a second booking on 82 minutes, but struck for the winner two minutes later. Brennan did well to pull the ball back for Clancy who fired past Aaron Shanahan in the Town goal. |
