The points were shared between Sporting Fingal and Bohemians in a closely contested 0-0 draw at Morton Stadium on Friday evening.

With the season easing into its final quarter, every point should prove crucial as teams aim to end their campaigns on a high. But it is Bohs who will be more pleased with this point.

The Gypsies were the better team for the duration of the game and created the more clear-cut chances, although they failed to get that goal that their performance deserved.

Glenn Cronin was first to try his luck when he headed straight at Sporting keeper Darren Quigley on 10 minutes and that was a sign of things to come from the Premier Division champions.

A wasted chance from Mark Quigley soon followed before defender Jason McGuinness connected with a corner from Killian Brennan to head an effort just over the bar.

Sporting relied on shots from distance from Shaun Williams and Ronan Finn, as well as a header from Gary O'Neill, for their best chances on goal - but they were few and far between.

Instead, it was all about Bohs' positive play. Pat Fenlon's men dominated possession throughout with a changed formation of 4-4-1-1 allowing Gareth McGlynn to roam freely.

Paddy Madden brought the best out of Darren Quigley with a smart header in the second period, while the keeper also denied his namesake when he rushed out to block an effort from Bohs attacker Mark Quigley.

The foot was firmly on the gas, but the visitors just could not find the open stretch of road needed to storm away with this game.

On 86 minutes, Sporting looked to have snatched an undeserved win when Williams got up to head in a corner, but it was ruled out by referee Declan Hanney.

Both sides were forced to settle for a point, although it is Bohs who came out feeling that they played the better football as they stretched their unbeaten run to five games.
