Mahon confirmed as Saints boss

Pete Mahon has today been confirmed as manager of St Patrick’s Athletic FC for the coming season.

Mahon held the position on a short term basis towards the end of last season when he replaced Jeff Kenna and successfully led the Saints out of relegation trouble.

An experienced club manager with both UCD and Bohemians, Mahon brings a wealth of league of Ireland knowledge to the role and is looking forward to the challenges ahead at Richmond Park, “I took over the job in difficult circumstances last season so I’m delighted to be back with the chance of really putting my own stamp on the team for next year”.

John Gill who worked alongside him last season will join Mahon as his assistant coach.  “The club has only a couple of players under contract at the moment so we’re in for a busy few weeks and believe me the phone calls have started already”.

Even with the hard work ahead Mahon is looking forward to managing the Inchicore club, “it’s a club with a proud history and a loyal support base - it was great to see supporters getting behind the club at the end of a tough season last year. Our aim now is to get a good squad of players together ahead of the new season and really give them something to cheer about in 2010”.
