LIAM BUCKLEY returned to take over as St Patrick's Athletic manager after Pete Mahon's contract was not renewed with the club after two seasons at Inchicore.

Buckley had most recently been manager of Sporting Fingal, who he led to the FAI Ford Cup in 2009. After emerging as assistant manager at St Pats under Brian Kerr, Buckley started his managerial career with Athlone Town.

He returned to Richmond Park in 1998 and led the Saints to the league title the following year. After moving on from the Saints he was appointed Shamrock Rovers manager in 2002 and led the Hoops to the FAI Ford Cup Final the following year.

A former international footballer, Buckley played for St Pat's, Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers while he also paraded his talernts in Switzerland, Spain and Belgium with Montreaux Sports, Racing Santander, Waregem and also with Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps.
