Murray makes Hoops debut
Dan Murray made his Shamrock Rovers debut on Friday night and manager Michael O'Neill believes the former Cork City captain can become a huge player for the Hoops.

Murray captained Cork City over recent years, guiding the club to FAI Ford Cup and Setanta Sports Cup victory. He also helped the club to the Premier Division title in 2005.

The English-born defender signed for Shamrock Rovers on Friday and made his debut later that evening in the Hoops' 1-0 friendly victory over Shelbourne.

O'Neill says he was delighted to secure Murray's signing and is hoping he can repeat his success on Leeside in Dublin 24.

“Dan is an excellent professional and has won everything at Cork City,” says O’Neill. “He’s one of the top performers in this league and a player I’ve greatly admired.

“It’s a testament to Shamrock Rovers that he’s decided to come here and I believe he’ll make a great contribution and will become a firm favourite with our fans.”
