Lilywhites looking for another special European night

Tonight will see Dundalk take part in their 41st match in European competition.

The Lilywhites have not featured in European competition since 2002-03 but the club has plenty of experience at this level, particularly in the 1960s, '70s and 80s.

Dundalk have come up against some of Europe's top clubs, including Glasgow Rangers, Liverpool, Glasgow Celtic, FC Porto, Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax Amsterdam and Red Star Belgrade.

Amongst the most famous European nights involving Dundalk were the 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham Hotspur (1981-82), the narrow 1-0 defeat at Anfield to Liverpool (1982-83), a 2-1 win over Utrecht (1968-69) and a 2-0 victory over Linfield (1979-80).

Fans will be hoping that their match against Grevenmacher on July 8th at Oriel Park can be another special European night in Co. Louth.
