Brennan gives Bohs advantage

A Killian Brennan header mid-way through the second half gave Bohemians victory in their Champions League Second Qualifying Round first leg fixture against TNS. The Airtricity League champions travel to Wales with a slender lead in the fixture as they look to book their place in the Third Qualifying Round.

In a match played in difficult rainy conditions, both teams had chances to take the lead early on. Paddy Madden was lively for the hosts, while Matthew Berkeley and Tom Sharpe both had good chances for the visitors.

Bohemians were well on top in the second half, however, and the breakthrough came after 66 minutes. Madden crossed into the box and Brennan rose highest to head Bohs into the lead.

Although their opponents could have left Dalymount with a precious away goal, Bohemians will hope that their one goal advantage, combined with a clean sheet, will help them progress in Wales next week.
