Airtricity League First Division Fixtures released
Thursday, 26 January 2012 10:50

The FAI today released fixtures for an eight club Airtricity League First Division following the decision of Galway Utd to withdraw their application for a First Division licence.

The fixtures are being released after a meeting of the National League Executive Committee where the structure of the First Division for the 2012 season was agreed.

First Division applications were received by Tralee Dynamos and Cobh Ramblers. The NLEC has decided that if following the licensing process a vacancy arises in the eight team First Division, their applications will be considered by the FAI Board for the 2012 season.

The FAI has held a series of meetings with the Galway United Supporters Trust (GUST) following Galway Utd's decision to withdraw its licence application. These discussions involved all stands of the game in the Galway area including GUST, Salthill Devon and Mervue Utd and will continue during the 2012 season.

For the 2012 season, Salthill Devon have nominated Terryland Park as their home ground for Airtricity League fixtures, playing as SD Galway.

All of the attached fixtures will be subject to the final decisions of the FAI Licensing Committee.
