UCD out to maintain 100% record

Table topping UCD go into tonight's fixture against Wexford Youths looking for their seventh consecutive league victory.

The Belfield club have won all six of their opening First Division fixtures, including last week's massive match against title rivals Shelbourne.

Manager Martin Russell is hoping that the run can continue, although he knows that such success makes other clubs even more determined to defeat them.

"The performance was good [against Shelbourne]," said Russell on last week's 3-1 win in Tolka Park. "I was very pleased with the result as it was a tough, tough game. The manner in which we played also pleased me.

Having notched up a win over Tullamore midweek in the EA SPORTS Cup, UCD have a 100 percent record in all competitions this season. Russell said he knows his squad will need to avoid complacency if they are to maintain this form.

“We know Wexford will come in off a good win in Limerick [in the EA Sports Cup]. We know everybody is going to want to beat us and stop us continuing our run,” said the UCD manager.

UCD has announced that all UCD students will be allowed into the UCD free of charge for tonight's game.
