Students and Reds put 100% starts on the line

With Shelbourne and UCD both boasting 100% starts to the 2009 season, something has to give when the sides meet at Tolka Park tonight.

The Reds and the Students have both recorded perfect starts to the new campaign, registering five wins out of five matches. That form has seen the two clubs rocket to the top of the table, with UCD edging out their city rivals on goal difference.

UCD boss Martin Russell is hoping that his side can put in a repeat performance of last week, where his side ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Kildare County. With Greg Bolger and Sean Harding both still absent, Russell will most likely pick the same starting XI as last week.

"It was a good performance and a good result," said Martin Russell of the Kildare game. "We're looking forward to it [Shelbourne match]. Shelbourne have been going well. It's the kind of game you want to be playing, a top of the table clash."

Former Student Darren Meenan is doubtful for Shels, who have won all their games by a single goal margin, including last week's lasp gasp victory away to Mervue. Derek Doyle and Peter Hynes are both in line to face their former club.

Kick off in Tolka Park is 8pm.
