Kenna enjoying change of fortune
Jeff Kenna will be hoping that recent results represent a change in fortune for St. Patrick's Athletic, as the Saints face Bray Wanderers looking for back-to-back wins.

The Saints defeated Dundalk at Oriel Park last Friday night and, following their 2-2 draw against Sligo Rovers the week previous, boast four points from their last two matches. Kenna was delighted to get the win and had special praise for striker Mark Quigley, who scored the winning goal against Dundalk.

“I was delighted to see Mark score the winning goal at Oriel Park”, said Kenna, “Since I gave him the captain's armband a couple of weeks ago he's been a different player and I'm delighted with his contribution to the cause.

"The victory was by no means pretty but total-football is quite low on my list of priorities at the moment - we need to pick up wins. We were very unlucky not to beat Sligo and followed that up with last week's win. Four points out of six is nothing to shout about from the rooftops, but it certainly represents a change in fortunes for the better.”

Having lost key players Gary Dempsey and Mark Leech to serious injury against Dundalk in the first league meeting in March Kenna could only look on in disbelief as both Alan Cawley and Stuart Byrne limped off the field in the early stages of Friday night’s game.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn't worried after losing my central midfield partnership but Garreth O'Connor and John Lester came on and did exactly what I asked of them”.

The result is a welcomed boost to the Pat’s as they face Bray at home on Friday night hoping for a reversal of their recent 2-1 defeat to the Seasiders.

“Thankfully we go into this match on a high following last weekend's win in Dundalk. I'm confident that things will continue to improve, especially when key players return to full fitness and my hand is strengthened regarding team selection,” added Kenna.

Tickets for St Pat’s V Bray kick off 7.45pm Friday at Richmond Park are on sale at the club offices and from the club shop on Emmet Road.
