| Cawley upbeat despite inconsistent start |
St Patrick’s Athletic have made an inconsistent start to the new season, yet they remain upbeat going into the second round of games.![]() After nine games played, the Dublin-based side are sixth in the Premier Division on 12 points, although that doesn’t give an insight into their topsy-turvy beginning. With five defeats already suffered, The Super Saints are determined to put a good run together and introduce some consistency to their season. Next up is a trip to the West Coast to take on Galway United and manager Jeff Kenna will be hoping for a happy return to his former club. Midfielder Alan Cawley, who has been a bright spark since joining from Bray Wanderers, believes it is only a matter of time before Lady Luck starts smiling down on St Pat’s. “We have a good squad and have done well in most games, but the results haven’t really gone our way,” Cawley told loi.ie. “There have been a number of factors why they have not won every game. Injuries, new signings coming in, individual mistakes etc. But we are not too far away from the teams at the top of the table. “The manager has been reminding us that we are a good team and if we keep working hard then things will turn around for us. That bit of luck hasn’t come our way yet. “If anyone looks at our squad, they will see quality players in every position. We also have a really good manager and a great set of supporters, so all of the components are there for us to be doing better. “Nobody is feeling downbeat or getting carried away with the results we’ve had. Hopefully we can bounce back and get a few wins.” |
