Brave Sligo bow out

Sligo Rovers recorded a 1-1 draw in Albania but it was not enough to stop Vllaznia progressing to the Second Round of the Europa League.

The Albanian side go through 3-2 on aggregate having defeated Sligo 2-1 at The Showgrounds last week.

The Bit O'Red put up a brave performance and early chances to Romauld Boco and Rafael Cretaro gave the visitors hope.

However, Ndriçim Shtubina put the home side in the lead on 43 minutes after Cretaro was ajudged to have fouled Amarildo Belisha just outside the penalty area.

Vllaznia were reduced to ten men on 79 minutes when Sinani was shown the red card. Alan Keane pulled a goal back on 85 minutes, but the night ended in disappointment when Conor O'Grady was shown a red card deep into injury time.

Sligo Rovers: Richard Brush; Alan Keane, Shaun Holmes, Danny Ventre, Conor O'Grady; Brian Cash (Christoper Kelly, 58 mins), Richard Ryan, Sean Doherty (Owen Morrison, 66 mins), Steve Feeney; Romuald Boco, Rafael Cretaro

Vllaznia: Bishani Olsi; Dritan Smajlaj, Željko Mrvaljević, Ndriçim Shtubina, Amarildo Belisha; Vioresin Sinani, Fetim Kasapi, Rahman Hallaçi, Elvin Beqiri (Marko Basic, 61 mins); Bekim Balaj (Ansi Nika, 64 mins), Ilir Nallbani
