|
SLIGO ROVERS are delighted to announce three more signings for the 2012 season with goalkeepers Ciaran Kelly and Richard Brush signing contracts with the club along with midfielder John Dillon. Kelly and Brush will compete with Gary Rogers for the number one jersey in the Showgrounds. Kelly helped inspire the 2010 and 2011 FAI Cup victories with two outstanding performances in penalty shootout wins over Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne. He has played 68 matches for Rovers in two spells and will also act as a goalkeeping coach. Brush makes a return to The Showgrounds following a spell with Shamrock Rovers. The former Coventry goalkeeper man played with the Bit o’ Red between 2006 and 2010 previously, making 115 appearances. It ensures Paul Cook has exceptional goalkeeping options this season. Dillon has signed for a third year with the club having contributed several vital goals in the last 12 months. He has made 57 League of Ireland appearances in total for Rovers, finding the net 10 times. The ex-Crewe player will provide more competition to the Rovers midfield. Cook said: “It is fantastic to have Richard Brush back at the club. He is a great lad and I think we have top class goalkeepers. Ciaran brings with him a wealth of experience which is important to have. We have three goalkeepers who are proven in this league so I’m very happy with that. “John has been improving all the time at the club and I think there is more to come. The squad is very close to completion and it is quite versatile. John is one of those players and I think he can make an even bigger contribution this season.”
