| Doyle named Airtricity SWAI Player of the Month |
|
EOIN DOYLE has been rewarded for his brilliant run of form with Sligo Rovers by capturing the May Airtricity/Soccer Writers Association of Ireland Player of the Month award. Dubliner Doyle grabbed seven goals in three games for the Bit O'Red in May - including a hat-trick against Bray Wanderers and back-to-back braces against Galway United and Drogheda United."In fairness, if you look at the goals I've scored they've all been down to smashing build-up play and nice passing movements," said Tallaght native Doyle. "We had a decent pre-season, and I think they way we've been playing of late, and especially during the month of May, there's a strong foundation to add to." Paul Cook's Sligo side continued their good form in May with a 1-0 win over Dundalk and face an testing visit to Bohemians tonight. "It's a big game for us, it really is. Bohs have already beaten us once this season, and well when they turned us over on our own patch. It will be a real tough one.," said Doyle. "We actually aren't a huge distance off Shamrock Rovers at all, but if we can hit a consistent run of results in the coming weeks then we can possibly reel them in." |
