Shels look to keep up pressure

Shelbourne travel to Donegal on Friday night to take on Finn Harps hoping that they can keep pressure on the top three teams in the First Division.

Just three points separate the top four teams in the division, with UCD, Sporting Fingal, Waterford United and Shelbourne all in the hunt for promotion to the top flight.

Having lost two matches in a row - against UCD and Sporting Fingal - the Reds returned to winning ways last weekend when they overcame Athlone Town. However, despite the victory, Shels manager Dermot Keely was not overly happy with the performance and has called on his players to show more desire this week.

“There is a minimum level of effort and commitment that’s required and they didn’t have it against Athlone," said Keely in the wake of last week's match.

It's a big game for Finn Harps, too, as the Donegal side look to move towards a midtable position. Paul Hegarty's side are currently in 8th position but they will be looking to close the four point gap that has opened up between themselves adn 7th placed Mervue United.
