Cassidy pledges future to Reds
Former First Division Player of the Year David Cassidy has re-signed for Shelbourne, giving the Reds a massive boost ahead of the new campaign.

Attacking midfielder Cassidy was named as the division's outstanding player in 2008 and he will play a crucial role for the Reds in the season ahead. Dublin-born Cassidy signed for Shelbourne from Dundalk in 2009, having previously enjoyed a spell with Shamrock Rovers.

Shels manager Dermot Keely has also completed the signing of talented youngster Colin O'Brien, brother of current Shelbourne midfielder Mark O'Brien. The young player joined Shelbourne Under 20s from Dundalk Under 20s at the start of the 2009 season, but after impressing in a friendly against Leeds United he landed a spot in the starting line-up against Sporting Fingal in July.

He subsequently became part of the first Team squad and scored his first team goal against Athlone Town on Saturday, July 25th 2009 in a 2-2- draw.
