|
Shamrock Rovers are delighted to announce the full details of the club’s first ever Festival of Football at Tallaght Stadium. Throughout July Shamrock Rovers will play a total of five home games – two in the FAI League of Ireland, against Sligo Rovers (Jul 18) and Derry City (Jul 31), and three friendlies against overseas opposition. ![]() The three friendlies are against Newcastle United (Jul 12), Hibernian (Jul 20) and the legendary Real Madrid (Jul 27), which is already a sell-out due to phenomenal public demand. Says Hoops’ chairman, Jonathan Roche: “We wanted our first Festival of Football in our new home in Tallaght to be very special - and that’s exactly what we have. “As well as quality English and Scottish opposition in the shape of Newcastle United and Hibernian, we’re also playing Real Madrid, one of the greatest names in football. “We’re determined to make Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght Stadium the ultimate football experience for the Irish public and these games show the enormous potential at the club. “In the coming years we aim to have competitive European football here on a regular basis, while also endeavouring to bring exciting names over for our annual Festival of Football. “We have superb facilities, colourful and passionate fans, and a team managed by Michael O’Neill that is bringing Shamrock Rovers back to the pinnacle of Irish sport. “It’s a very exciting time at Rovers,” he adds. “Since we moved into Tallaght Stadium everything has changed and this first Festival of Football is an indicator of the future direction of our club. “We are also temporarily extending the capacity of Tallaght Stadium for all games in July, including our vital Premier Division games against Sligo Rovers and Derry City.” Tickets for all games are available at the club store at Tallaght Stadium, or online at www.shamrockrovers.ie from 1.00pm, Wednesday, June 24.
