Shamrock Rovers boss Michael O'Neill has predicted a tough encounter against Bray Wanderers at the Tallaght Stadium, as the Hoops look to stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches. ![]() Rovers have hit form over recent weeks and, depending on results elsewhere, could even move into second place in the league table should they overcome the Seagulls. Having drawn at the Carlisle Grounds in their opening fixture of the season, the Hoops will be eager to get three points against Eddie Gormley's side. “Bray Wanderers have done well so far this season," said O'Neill. "They’re unbeaten at home and are proving to be difficult opponents. This will be anything but an easy game for us. “Initially I was disappointed that we didn’t win when we drew 0-0 at the Carlisle Grounds on the opening day of the season – but their record since has indicated that it was a good result. “Eddie Gormley has put together a young and enthusiastic team that plays without fear. They’ll enjoy coming to Tallaght Stadium and performing in front of a big crowd. “We know that we’ll have to work hard and play to the best of our abilities if we’re to win this game and maintain the momentum we’ve built up in recent weeks.” The Hoops defeated St. Patrick's Athletic 2-0 at Tallaght last week, with a brace from Gary Twigg, the league's top marksman at the moment, securing victory in the first ever Dublin derby to be staged at the Dublin 24 venue. “Obviously we were delighted to win the first ever Dublin derby at Tallaght Stadium," said O'Neill. "And it was a very important win for our fans, who’ve been terrific with their level of support. “I felt we played well, created a lot of chances and fully deserved our win. Twiggy scored two good goals and we kept a clean sheet. Overall, it was a very positive performance. “We’re now unbeaten in our last six games and that’s a situation that I’d like to see continuing – certainly, the appetite is there in the squad to keep the run going.” |
