Maguire to return for Hoops
Darragh Maguire could return to the Shamrock Rovers starting XI for tonight's match against Derry City.

The former St. Patrick's Athletic captain has missed the opening three matches of the season through injury but manager Michael O'Neill says that he is ready to reclaim his place in the first team.

“Last week we had doubts about Sean Webb and Stephen Bradley, and they both pulled through okay,” says the Hoops’ boss. “It’s great that we’ve everyone fit to play.

“Darragh Maguire will also be in the frame. He was on the bench last week against Bohemians, he’s been training fully for the past fortnight and we’re very keen to get him into the starting XI.

“Training’s been very good this week. Everyone’s fit and hungry to play, and we’re keen to bounce back after last week’s disappointing result against Bohemians.”

The Hoops boss knows that his side will face a tough challenge against a Derry City team many people fancy to take the Premier Division title. However, he will be hoping that a capacity crowd in the Tallaght Stadium can help his side to victory.

“Stephen Kenny has a good side there and, like last week’s game against Bohs, we know this will be a very tough 90 minutes and a stern test of our character as a squad," he said.

“Not many sides will go to Dalymount Park and take a point – but that’s what Derry City did the other week. I think this could be a really good game as they like to play and so do we.

“These are the games you want to be involved in. We’re up against one of the best teams in the country, in front of a full house in our new home in Tallaght Stadium. We’ll be up for it.”
