| O'Neill aiming to end reign on a high |
|
MICHAEL O'NEILL will bid to end his reign as Shamrock Rovers boss on a high tonight when the Hoops host Tottenham Hotspur in their final Europa League tie. The Tallaght Stadium clash (6.00pm) with the English Premier League giants is a sell-out and Rovers would dearly love to end the Group A campaign with a positive result. Airtricity League champions Rovers have taken Irish football to a new level by becoming the first club from this island to qualify for the group stages of a UEFA competition. The Hoops confirmed earlier this week that manager O’Neill will leave the club when his current contract finishes at the end of December. A statement from the club read: "The club would like to thank Michael for the great success he has brought to the club during his three year tenure at Shamrock Rovers, and we would like to wish him the best for his future career. "Everyone at the club is focused on Thursday night’s big Europa League game against Tottenham Hotspur at Tallaght Stadium, and the club will not be making any further comment on this matter." |
