Rovers extend Umbro deal

SHAMROCK ROVERS have announced the extension of their kit sponsorship with Umbro Ireland for the next four years.

The Hoops and Umbro Ireland have signed a kit-sponsorship contract covering 2011-214. The deal will see all Shamrock Rovers teams – from the first team to Schoolboys – wear Umbro kit for the duration of the term.

Shamrock Rovers marketing officer, Mark Lynch, explains that it is vital the league champions are kitted out in the finest gear, which is what the club gets from Umbro Ireland.

He told the club website www.shamrockrovers.ie: “Umbro are a long-standing partner of Shamrock Rovers FC and we are delighted to be able to extend this partnership until 2014.

"Together we have developed the club’s merchandise to be the best in the league and we will continue to offer our fans the biggest and best selection of merchandise, with something for everybody in our ever-growing range of items.

“As Ireland’s most successful football club, we have an obligation to protect and nurture our brand as we continue to strive forward in domestic and European football.â€

Commenting on the new deal, Jonathan Courtenay of Umbro Ireland said: “We at Umbro Ireland are dedicated to supporting Irish football from head-to-toe and the extension of our long-standing and strong relationship with the current league champions, Shamrock Rovers FC is a huge positive for us.

“We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Rovers and supplying them with the finest football product available. Shamrock Rovers have also recently taken over the running of the Club Megastore at Tallaght Stadium and we would like to take this opportunity to wish the club all the best with this opportunity.â€
