O'Neill: We are focused on three points

Shamrock Rovers boss Michael O'Neill says his players are focused and determined to kick-start life in Tallaght with three points.

The Hoops take on Sligo Rovers in their first ever match in the Tallaght Stadium on Friday night. With the game already sold-out, there is huge anticipation around the fixture.

However, O'Neill says that, while the hype around the stadium is welcome, the focus of his players will be on the match itself.

“All the focus in the media this week has been on the opening of Tallaght Stadium, but for the players and the management team it’s been about the game," he said.

“We’re pretty much at full strength and are looking forward to taking on Sligo Rovers. As last week’s opening games suggest, there’s not much between the ten teams and this will be a competitive season.

“We’ve had a look at Sligo Rovers, and I feel we can look forward to a good, open and entertaining first game in Tallaght. And our target is to start off with a win.”

Scottish midfielder Greg Cameron, on loan at Rovers from Dundee United, is fit and will be included in the squad, while Darragh Maguire may also have recovered sufficiently to be included in the panel.

Pat Flynn and Sean O'Connor are two players certain to miss out, as both players are suspended.

Sligo Rovers will be without Chris Butler, Mauro Almeida and the suspended Alan Keane.
