| Monaghan United 0-0 St Patrick's Athletic |
|
Monaghan United will have another chance of reaching the FAI Ford Cup quarter-finals after drawing 0-0 with St Patrick's Athletic on Friday evening. Â St Pat's were determined to get back to winning ways after losing to Bohemians in the league earlier in the week and had both Gary Dempsey and Mark Quigley back in their starting line-up. Â However, The Super Saints were left frustrated as Quigley and Damian Lynch came close with two good efforts, but failed to find the back of the net. Â The hosts also had their fair share of opportunities on goal with Karl Bermingham and Paul Whelan giving the home supporters something to get excited about. Â A stunning free-kick from Alan Cawley almost snatched a win for the visitors with a few minutes remaining, only his shot flew over the crossbar. Â Monaghan United: McCarey, Gartland, Grimes, Lynch, Whelan, Bermingham, Byrne, O'Connor, Tierney, Clancy, Freeman. Â St Patrick's Athletic: Rogers, Gavin, Harris, Partridge, Stevens, Guy, Dempsey, Lynch, O'Connor, Quigley, Fitzpatrick. |
